When you think about a picturesque and dreamy garden wedding, you’ve probably been imagining Deidre and Thomas’ special day without even realising it! From breakfast club sweethearts to husband and wife, this love story will have you swooning.
Breakfast Club…
Deidre and Thomas first met through mutual friends in 2009. They knew it was true love soon after when they went on a brunch date and had the exact same breakfast order! “We both ordered eggs benedict with extra hollandaise,” Deidre laughs. The couple got engaged almost a decade later overlooking the Brisbane river. “We called both our mum’s straight away who were over the moon for us,” recalls the happy couple.
White Wedding…
From the early days, Deidre knew exactly what she wanted their wedding to look like – white, clean and crisp. This concept evolved and the theme the couple decided on was a white garden wedding. Once the theme was decided, preparations were well and truly underway. “Call me crazy but I loved planning our wedding,” says Deidre, “I think I had everything booked within three months!” The intimate garden ceremony was held at The Orchard Yeppoon, just off the coast in Bondoola, Queensland.
Wedding Tribe…
Both Deidre and Thomas had four people by their side on the big day. Deidre’s bridal party consisted of her former work colleagues who had a major soft spot for Thomas as soon as they met him. The grooms party was made up of Thomas’ two brothers as well as his two best friends. Thomas and his groomsmen looked totally dapper in matching navy blue suits, paired with tan shoes.
Bridal Party Babes…
Deidre proposed to her bridesmaids in a gorgeously elaborate fashion. “I surprised my bridesmaids at our engagement party with a box of tear drop earrings to match my engagement ring, a personalised wine glass and mini bottle of Moscato,” she shares. Deidre’s bridesmaids wore beautiful infinity dresses in charcoal to match the understated wedding colour scheme. Deidre recalls that one of her favourite memories from the big day was “getting ready with the girls and their reactions when they saw my dress for the first time”.
Meant To Be…
Deidre’s wedding gown was a stunning Stella York number. The beautiful lace design was perfectly complimented by a simple yet sophisticated bodice with a keyhole back and detailed train. Deidre knew she was destined to say yes to the dress as soon as she tried it on! “It was actually the very first dress I tried on,” she laughs, “I tried on 5 other dresses after that but I kept going back to the first one!”
Showstopping Entrance…
After Thomas and his groomsmen arrived in a classic pick up truck, Deidre made her grand entrance to the ceremony…in a helicopter! Talk about making an entrance!
Styled To Perfection…
The divine reception was held at The Orchard Yeppoon under a glasshouse marquee. The venue completely embodied the beautiful white garden wedding theme that Deidre had envisioned. Details included white chairs, table cloths, plates and lanterns. The decor was brought to life with king protea centrepieces and laser cut wooden names as place cards.
Divine Dining…
The reception featured a sit down all-you-can-eat buffet, a drool worthy tiered cake and the sweetest wedding favours for the guests to take home. “My mum is succulent crazy so with her loving touch, she grew 100 succulents for each guest,” shares Deidre.
Worth Every Penny…
After a romantic week of honeymooning in Brisbane, Deidre and Thomas are ready to share the lessons they learned along the way. “Your relationship will never go through that phase again, so enjoy it!” says the newlyweds. Their main advice when planning a wedding is to talk about your priorities and set a budget. “Our biggest challenge was our budget,” the couple shares. “But it was completely worth every cent and we wouldn’t change a thing!”
